Sometimes we use terms an anacronyms and forget to explain them, we hope this helps:
BRUMC: Blue Ridge Ferry United Methodist Church
UMYF: United Methodist Youth Fellowship (aka MYF)
UMM: United Methodist Men
UMW: United Methodist Women
LPG: Ladies Prayer Group
The Mountain Messenger: Our monthly newsletter
Council: Monthly meeting of our church leaders. (aka: the Board)
Charge Conference: Annual review and reporting meeting of our church, elected leaders voting.
Church Conference: an official meeting of the whole membership to vote on specific agenda affecting the church.
Conference: Network of 1000 United Methodist churches in the northern half of Georgia with over 300,000 members and growing
Annual Conference: Annual meeting of pastors and local church representatives from around the Conference.
District Meeting: Network of over 100 United Methodist Churches in Northwestern portion of the state of Georgia
NWSD: North West District, our district (1 of 12 in the conference)
D.S. The minister who oversees our district, Rev. Mike Cavin is our district superintendent
PPR/SPR: The personell committee known as the Pastor-Parish Relations or the Staff Parish Relations Committee.
Trustees: The elected committee of operational work of the church.
M.U.S.T.: A local ministry to assist persons in need. Volunteer today!
The General Account: The main account that reflects the budget of ministry expenses.
The Designated Account: The collection of accounts for designated projects and offerings.
Glisson: A United Methodist Camp in north Georgia
Junaluska: A retreat center and regional office for the Southeastern United Methodist Church
Saints Alive: Our older Adult ministry, if you enjoy good food and fellowship, age is not an issue.
