Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. -Matthew 5:4
Our church has suffered the loss of two wonderful ladies this past month. Dottie McKenzie and Sue Young both passed away recently. Both these ladies put up such brave battles against the diseases that took their lives. Sue was always such a happy person and always so positive. Dottie will always be remembered for her deep desire to help the children of Fannin County. Both these beautiful ladies are in Heaven free from the pain they refused to acknowledge whenever we asked how they were feeling. Please keep Frank and Lloyd in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with the loss of their soul mates.
I know I speak for the families of these ladies when I say Thank You to the Hospitality Committee of our church. These ladies provided wonderful meals for the mourners after the services. They decorated the tables, cooked and served food on short notice. It gave family members, who may not see each other often, a chance to talk and share stories.
Thinking ahead to next month, our church always has a fish fry and cake auction at the October fellowship dinner. Barney Barnes started the tradition of the Fish Fry. Dottie McKenzie started the tradition of the cake auction to raise money for the purchase of Christmas gifts for less fortunate children. Both these generous souls have now passed away. What better way to honor their memory and spirit than to actively participate in these events. Mark your calendars now and plan on attending this event and remember these two individuals.
Our church continues to struggle with the budget. Our general offerings continue to cover our expenses from month to month. However, according to the budget, we should be transferring money every month to the Trustee Account. This is a separate savings account that is to be used for maintenance expenses on the buildings. In order to cover the general operating expenses of the church, we have not been transferring those funds to the Trustee Account. Fortunately, there have been no major expenses and problems that needed to be paid from the Trustee Account and it is not depleted. We cannot continue to operate without expecting some type of repairs in the future.
One of the many benefits of belonging to a Bible Study Group or Sunday School Class is the joy of friendship and love. That was demonstrated recently when Doug and Cathy Beck invited their Sunday class over to their beautiful house for the evening. We all had a wonderful evening of laughter and friendship. I will be seeing you in Church.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. -2 Corinthians 1:3-4
