In Genesis we find that Noah had an Ark and that Moses had a type of Ark that his mother put him in to float down the Nile. Both vessels protecting them for their journey. Then in Exodus we learn of an ark made of acacia wood and covered with gold that would accommodate the presence of GOD, The Shekinah Glory, that HE might dwell among HIS people.
Ex. 32 GOD told Moses go down at once, for your people that have been brought from the land of Egypt have corrupted them- selves by worshiping a golden calf. They made a calf in Horeb, and worshiped the molded image. Thus they changed their glory into the image of an ox that eats grass. Ps. 106:19-20
“Ichabod” The Name Below All Names
We skip through Biblical history learning of GOD’s people continually falling away and being restored. In those days everyone did what was right in their own eyes. In the second battle between Israel and the Philistines we read of Eli’s two wicked sons Hophni and Phinehas bringing the Ark of the Covenant of GOD from Shiloh to the camp. A “pep” rally ensued for each of the camps to stir up the warriors for battle… and Israel fell to the Philistines again. Hophni and Phinehas were killed and when the pregnant wife of Phinehas heard he was dead she went into hard labor and delivered their son, calling his name “Ichabod” saying the Glory has departed from Israel because the Ark of God has been taken. This is a very good read in 1 Samuel 4-6 if you want to know the end of the story.
Prophets came and went taking the messages from GOD to HIS people… turn from your disobedience and sinful ways. In the days of Ezekiel the people again ceased to glorify GOD.
We live in a “whatever” generation with no Absolutes. We care more about what man thinks than what GOD thinks… and HE left us a “life manual” that tells us what HE thinks. We fear man more than we fear GOD.
For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of GOD. -Romans 3:23
Jer. 2:11-12 MY people have changed the glory for that which does not profit. MY people have committed two evils… they have forsaken ME and they have hewn for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that hold no water.
From the beginning, GOD’S desire was to be among HIS people.
Jn.1:14… And the WORD (GODS mind and heart) became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld HIS glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the FATHER, full of Grace and Truth.
Jn. 17:4 FATHER, “I have glorified YOU on earth, I have finished the work that you have given ME to do”, prayed JESUS.
GLORY: Kabod…to give a true estimate of HIM……….
To please GOD is for us to give a correct estimate of HIM in our liv- ing. Life is GODS gift to us, what we do with it is our gift to HIM.
Jesus is the radiance of HIS glory….GOD’s original intent for each of us to fellowship and reflect the radiance of HIS glory. -Heb. 1:3
“If you’ve seen ME, you’ve seen the FATHER” JESUS said. Is that what we want people to say about us? If you have seen him/her, you have seen JESUS? Absolutely….CHRIST in me, my hope of Glory. If I am “in CHRIST” HE is my ark, my refuge, my safe haven and protector. Storms may come and storms may go, but “in HIM” I am safe.
When we get a glimpse of GOD’S holiness, we also get a look at our fallen nature. We, being earthen vessels holding treasures, these temples of the HO- LY SPIRIT cry out Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, are to be this sweet aroma of our CHRIST to other believ- ers and to those who are perishing. Though our outward natural person is perishing our inner person is being restored and renewed daily. From glory to glory we are being changed into our “Christ likeness.”
And the WORD (GODS mind and heart) became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld HIS glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the FATHER, full of Grace and Truth. -2 Corin. 4:16-18
Bless the Lord, Oh my soul and all that is with- in me, Bless HIS Holy name. Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not HIS benefits. HE for- gives our iniquities and heals our diseases. HE redeems us from destruction and crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies. Ps. 103
