The community is cordially invited to join our congregation as we observe Maundy Thursday in worship at 7 pm on Thursday, March 28th. The service will be conducted in the Sanctuary located on West Main Street.
This service marks the beginning of the Triduum in the Christian tradition. This three day period celebrates the passion and the resurrection of Christ. The Triduum is concluded with the evening prayers of Resurrection Sunday. The word “Maundy” is derived from the Latin, “mandatum,” which means “mandate.” In John 13:34 Jesus says, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” This he used in connection with the act of washing his Disciple’s feet.
In the service we will observe Holy Communion as we remember both how Jesus served his disciples and how we can serve and care for one-another.
