The Finance Committee of the congregation reports that gifts for the Operating Budget in the past two months have dropped significantly. “Our gifts for the “Operating Fund” are seriously lagging behind previous months’ gifts and below expectations,” reports Finance Chairman Randy Brown.
According to Chairman Brown, “During the first four month of the year, we carried a significant balance on hand. In the past two months that balance has fallen from more than twenty thousand dollars to around eight thousand dollars.”
The Finance Committee expressed confidence that the congregation will make up these shortfalls, but it is important that everyone is made aware of our situation. If our giving does not pick up, the committee will have to take more drastic action.
Chairman Brown reported that, “The problem we are seeing here is not a problem of spending. That seems to be along the lines of expectations, and even a bit better than expectations. This is a problem of our giving dropping off noticeably in the past two months. With people traveling, taking vacations, and the like, the Finance Committee simply wants to make everyone aware and ask each member to make sure they are caught up in their giving for 2014.”
